10.04.2026 - 10:02U.S. President Donald Trump has again, on the eve of Hungary’s parliamentary elections, expressed support for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and called on Hungarians to vote for his Fidesz party.
The head of the White House wrote this on the social network Truth Social.
Trump called the Hungarian prime minister a “strong and powerful leader” and said that he “fights tirelessly for his country and his people.” According to Trump, Orbán “protects Hungary, grows the economy, creates jobs, promotes trade, stops illegal migration, and ensures law and order.”
The U.S. president also noted that under his administration, relations between the United States and Hungary “reached new heights of cooperation,” and added that he is proud to once again support Orbán in the elections.
“Hungary: get out and vote for Viktor Orbán. He is a true friend, a fighter, and a winner… he has my full and unconditional support,” the post says.
Three days earlier, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, during a visit to Hungary, played a recording at a rally in Budapest in which Trump declared his affection for Orbán.
Vance himself also openly supported the Hungarian prime minister ahead of the parliamentary elections.
