Poland’s foreign minister rejected Ukraine’s fast-track accession to the European Union
16.04.2026 - 07:31Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Presidential Office, continues to make statements that diverge from Bankova’s official line.
Yesterday, during a speech at the Business Wisdom Summit, the head of the Presidential Office said that the return of Ukrainians from abroad would be possible only if there were real security guarantees and proper economic conditions.
“No one will return just like that. People are waiting for real security guarantees and economic reasons,” he noted.
According to him, the country needs to develop a high value-added economy in order to create conditions for citizens to come back.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in Germany a few days ago that Ukrainians liable for military service should be brought back from abroad to be sent to the front.
Budanov also made it clear that he opposes the mobilization of women, a topic that has been discussed more and more lately.
“While some men are fighting and working, and others are hiding or have gone abroad, it is women who have taken responsibility and become the foundation that sustains our rear and our economy. And the numbers confirm this,” he said.
Earlier, media reports said that Budanov had also spoken out against pressure on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
