Poroshenko: corruption scandal around Yermak will damage Ukraine’s defense capability and reputation

Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has warned that a corruption scandal in the inner circle of Volodymyr Zelensky will create serious problems for the country.

His words were reported by Politico.

“Unfortunately, such corruption scandals during wartime create serious problems for the country. They undermine defense capability, damage international reputation, and certainly do not contribute to European integration,” — Poroshenko said.

The statement was prompted by events on the evening of May 11: former head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Andriy Yermak was served with a suspicion notice for laundering nearly half a billion hryvnias. On the same day, investigative bodies — the bureau and the prosecutor’s office — carried out investigative actions against Yermak.
