28.05.2026 08:01On the morning of May 24, following a massive shelling of Kyiv, a 30-year-old man took advantage of the destruction in the Solomensky district and stole equipment from a damaged office. He was detained by passersby before police arrived.
This was reported by the Kyiv police.
At around 05:00, a call was received on the special line 102 reporting that an unknown individual was attempting to steal equipment from a damaged office premises in the Solomensky district. An investigative and operational team was dispatched to the scene.
According to law enforcement, the perpetrator noticed the damaged doors of the office and decided to exploit the situation. Breaking inside, he took a laptop and charger from one of the offices, with a combined value of 40,000 hryvnias.
As he attempted to flee with the stolen items, the man was spotted by passersby. They stopped the perpetrator and held him until police arrived.
Investigators detained the 30-year-old suspect. Under the procedural supervision of the Solomensky District Prosecutor’s Office, he was served with a notice of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery involving breaking and entering, committed under conditions of martial law. The article carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison.
