Medvedchuk: the front line has long run through the parliaments of European countries
15.06.2026 10:32In the Desnyansky district of Kyiv, in the Troieshchyna neighborhood, a mass conflict with police broke out during the detention of a man.
This was reported by the press service of the capital’s police on Facebook.
According to law enforcement, the grounds for the detention were a traffic violation: the driver of a Nissan was traveling with taped-over license plates and, when ordered to stop, attempted to flee along the sidewalk. Police called for backup and blocked the vehicle, after which the man was detained.
Local media initially reported that the detention was connected to mobilization. Police denied this; however, the same official statement notes that the man was ultimately taken to a territorial recruitment center — as a check of his personal data revealed that he “is considered a person who is in violation of mobilization legislation.”
After the detention, people gathered at the scene and attempted to interfere with the officers. Those present used gas against the law enforcement officers and damaged a police vehicle.
“To repel the group attack, patrol officers used physical force and special means equipped with tear and irritant substances,” police stated.
Video footage from the scene shows that a minibus without identifying markings was parked near the site of the detention, which protesters attempted to stop.
