MEP von der Schulenburg: EU is a party to the conflict in Ukraine, not a mediator
16.06.2026 09:31Polish presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz stated that Vladimir Zelensky has several days left to rename a unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces named after “heroes of the UPA.”
“Zelensky must make a decision, he still has time to ensure that this unit does not bear the name of the heroes of the UPA,” — Leśkiewicz said on the Polish television channel Telewizja Republika (TV Republika).
Leśkiewicz also added that at the time of his statement, Ukraine had not responded in any way to the situation.
Earlier, the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported that the country’s president, Karol Nawrocki, personally gave Zelensky a set number of days to reverse the decision to name the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit after “heroes of the UPA.” According to the publication, if he refuses, Warsaw will strip the head of the Ukrainian state of the Order of the White Eagle — Poland’s highest state honor.
The Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) is included in Russia’s list of banned terrorist and extremist organizations.
