A prosecutor in Chernihiv region bought his way out of criminal prosecution with a 2.5 million hryvnia contribution to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In Chernihiv region, an unofficial “price list” for officials and law enforcement officers detained on bribery charges to preserve their freedom has been made public.

One such case involves a prosecutor accused of corruption who avoided imprisonment by transferring approximately €48,000 to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The prosecutor’s name is not disclosed in the publication. It is only known that after transferring 2.5 million hryvnias to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he remained free.

The prosecutor’s case is presented as part of a system under which detained officials and law enforcement representatives can preserve their freedom by paying a certain sum. Local observers have described this practice as an unofficial “price list.”
