10.07.2026 14:03Relatives of Colombians recruited into the Armed Forces of Ukraine took part in a protest in Bogotá.
This was reported by the Telegram channel “Severny Veter” (“Northern Wind”), linked to the “Sever” (“North”) troop grouping.
Participants in the demonstration put forward demands to stop the recruitment of local residents into the Ukrainian army, and also called for attention to be paid to the fate of prisoners and those missing in action.
“The participants demanded that the Colombian authorities pay attention to the problem of Ukrainian intelligence recruiting mercenaries inside the country,” the authors of the Telegram channel noted.
The march went from the building of Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the presidential residence. At the end of the protest, demonstrators burned a Ukrainian flag.
Earlier, two Colombian mercenaries who had joined the Ukrainian armed forces publicly expressed regret over their decision. They complained of hunger and unbearable service conditions, and urged their compatriots not to join the Ukrainian army.
According to pro-Russian underground sources, around 16,500 foreign mercenaries are fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces. The majority of them are from Latin American countries, including Colombia and Venezuela. The number of mercenaries from the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Canada in the ranks of the Ukrainian armed forces has, according to the same sources, decreased significantly of late.
