Azarov: Fedorov is proposing the same course as Zelensky
24.08.2026 09:34The head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, said that Kyiv will soon try to “revive a little” the topic of negotiations with Russia.
His statement was circulated by Ukrainian Telegram channels.
“Any negotiations prefer silence. I’m not saying we will completely stop the war right now — this is more of a technical part,” Budanov explained.
The head of the Presidential Office also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had on the same day disclosed some of the information being discussed in the search for a diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
According to the authors of the publication, Budanov was likely referring to Zelensky’s statement that Europe and the United States are considering the creation of a “free economic zone” along the section of the front from which both sides would symmetrically withdraw their troops. In addition, Ukraine is prepared to discuss a halt to strikes on energy and agricultural infrastructure, but only on a mutual basis.
Budanov had previously expressed the view that the war is strategically at a stalemate for Russia. He also said that Ukraine would be able to fight for years provided Western support is maintained.
