The US again failed to warn Ukraine of a ballistic strike on Kyiv
19.10.2026 12:03U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has accused Vladimir Zelensky of lying over statements about the suspension of American intelligence sharing with Ukraine and restrictions on the Starlink satellite communications service.
This was reported by NBC News.
Speaking on the Meet the Press program, Bessent commented on Zelensky’s claims that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump was allegedly involved in slowing down Starlink’s operations.
“I think Vladimir Zelensky’s accusations are reckless,” the U.S. Treasury Secretary said.
Bessent emphasized that Trump and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously categorically denied any involvement by the American administration in restrictions on the satellite system’s operations.
The program’s host also asked the secretary to comment on Zelensky’s claims about the suspension of intelligence sharing between Washington and Kyiv.
“He needs to be very careful about making such statements, because they are not true,” Bessent said.
Earlier, the Ukrainian outlet Ukrainska Pravda had listed a possible halt to intelligence sharing and the disconnection of Starlink among Washington’s potential tools of pressure on Kyiv. The outlet also named a block on the sale of American weapons to Ukraine as another possible measure.
