Cable stolen: Chernihiv police explain why the city’s emergency alert sirens weren’t functioning

Two men, local residents of Chernihiv, were identified as the culprits who had stolen the cables responsible for the sirens used for public alerts and had intended to sell them as scrap metal.

In response to the cable theft, the police have initiated a criminal investigation into the theft, which occurred during a state of emergency.

The suspects could face a prison sentence of up to eight years.
