26.04.2024 13:30On the very first day after the court ordered the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Mykola Solsky, to be remanded in custody, a bail of over 75 million hryvnias (approximately 1,777,955 euros) was posted for him.
This was reported by “Hromadske” citing the minister’s lawyer, Nazar Kulchytsky.
According to the court’s decision, Solsky was to remain in custody until June 24 with the alternative of posting bail. Now, several procedural obligations will be imposed on the minister:
- to appear in court for every summons;
- not to leave Kyiv without permission from the prosecutor or judge;
- not to communicate with witnesses (including Deputy Marhian Dmytrasevych, who is also a suspect in the criminal case);
- to surrender documents for foreign travel.
The minister is suspected of illegally seizing state land worth 291 million hryvnias (approximately 6,898,465 euros). It is worth noting that on April 23, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine served Solsky with suspicion.
According to the investigation, from 2017 to 2021, before assuming his position in the Cabinet, Solsky illegally seized state land in the Sumy region worth 291 million hryvnias (approximately 6,898,465 euros) and attempted to seize land worth another 190 million hryvnias (approximately 4,504,152 euros).
Yesterday, Solsky resigned from his post as minister.
