A large-scale abuse scheme in the construction sector has been uncovered in Kyiv region

The high-profile case of large-scale embezzlement of budget funds in Kyiv region has been completed.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

An indictment has been sent to court against the director of a private company suspected of misappropriating 20.5 million hryvnias (almost 419,000 euros) allocated for the construction of modular shelters.

According to the investigation, in June 2024 the head of the contractor company abused his position to illegally take possession of state funds allocated for arranging shelters on the grounds of an educational institution in one of the communities of the Bucha district.

Inspections showed that the installed shelters do not comply with national construction standards and their use in fact poses a threat to people’s lives and health. The prosecution insists that the actions of the official were particularly dangerous because they were committed during martial law.
