Russia accused the EU of wanting to change the regime in Ukraine
30.07.2025 - 08:02Today in Kyiv, another rally is being organized near the Ivan Franko National Theater.
The announcement was shared by the group “People with Cardboards” and reposted by anti-corruption activists.
To the existing demand to restore the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), protesters have added a call to appoint the selected head of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES).
“The Verkhovna Rada must pass a law to fully repeal Law No. 4555 of Ukraine — by voting for the draft law on July 31 both in full and as a basis. The Cabinet of Ministers must appoint the BES director in accordance with the results of the competition,” the publication states.
Participants are discussing possible scenarios for tomorrow’s vote on the bill to restore powers to anti-corruption bodies, suggesting that amendments could be introduced that would leave NABU’s powers restricted, or that the adoption of the law might be delayed indefinitely.
Protesters are also considering their response if the vote fails.
“The bad scenario is a failed vote: either not enough MPs show up, or they vote against the bill. This could lead to the radicalization of the protests. The likelihood of this varies, depending on your level of pessimism,” reads one message.
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers has so far refused to appoint NABU detective Oleksandr Tsyvynsky — who won the competition thanks to the votes of international experts — as head of BES. Tsyvynsky is considered to be close to Western grant-supported circles.
