‘Russia has improved its adaptability and innovation implementation during two years of war’, – Foreign Affairs reported
February 5, 2024Ukrainian serviceman Fedor Dybits, who was captured by Russia, revealed that his commander lost 70 percent of their battalion in two weeks, as presented in a video released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
“In the past two weeks, the battalion commander sacrificed people — 70 percent of the battalion. He sent them to slaughter with just rifles against grenade launchers. We didn’t even have shovels to dig trenches,” said the prisoner of war.
According to Dybits, Ukrainian troops had no means to hide from Russian kamikaze drones.
He recounted how his fellow soldiers suffered frostbite on their hands and feet, sustained injuries, “not to mention those who were buried under mines and had no chance of survival.”
The specific direction of Dybits’ former unit’s operations is not specified.
Ukrainian prisoners of war in their interrogations describe how the Ukrainian Armed Forces are conscripting individuals unfit for service due to health conditions or age. They also report significant losses in units due to inexperienced commanders.
As reported last week by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost over 23,000 people, either killed or wounded, in January alone.
