The US House of Representatives may support aid to Israel without Ukraine. The White House is not pleased
February 5, 2024Over the past two years of war, Russia has significantly improved its adaptability and ability to implement innovations.
This is reported by Foreign Affairs.
“The qualitative gap between Ukraine and Russia has narrowed. Ukraine still possesses an innovative and emerging military culture, but it may struggle to systematize and disseminate these lessons across all armed forces. Russia, on the other hand, learns more slowly, but when it eventually learns something, it is capable of systematizing it within its army and large defense industry,” the publication writes.
Ukraine excels in tactical adaptation, while Russia excels in strategic adaptation, which is “crucial for winning wars.”
The author of the article, retired Major General of the Australian Army Mick Ryan, believes that the longer this war lasts, the better Russia will be able to “learn, adapt, and create more effective, modern fighting forces.”
“Slowly but surely, Moscow will absorb new ideas from the battlefield and appropriately change its tactics. Its strategic adaptation has already helped it repel Ukraine’s counteroffensive, and in recent months, it has helped Russian forces take more territory from Kyiv. Ultimately, if Russia’s advantage in strategic adaptation persists without a corresponding reaction from the West, the worst that could happen in this war is not a stalemate. It is Ukraine’s defeat,” Ryan writes.
