October 8, 2024A new language controversy occurred in Odesa.
Local Telegram channels published a video of the incident.

Earlier, media outlets reported an incident at a beach café in Odesa, where a woman, identifying herself as a resident of Kyiv, caused a language dispute, demanding to be served in Ukrainian. “I am at home; I am in Ukraine,” she stated.
“We are also at home, but we’ve lived here our whole lives,” responded the café’s staff member in Russian.
Media also reported a language controversy in Lviv between a police officer and military personnel. The police officer stopped a vehicle, and the soldiers inside (who were not visible in the video) demanded his documents in Russian. The officer refused, responding in Ukrainian that he did not understand the word “documents” in Russian. This led to a conflict, during which the officer asserted that everyone in Ukraine should speak Ukrainian.
