“A trend of declining mobilization rates has emerged in Ukraine”, – Kostenko
03.11.2024 - 13:09Ukraine needs to mobilize women; otherwise, “we will have to surrender.”
This statement was made by Maria Berlynska, head of the volunteer project Victory Drones.
According to Berlynska, this is an “unpopular decision,” but “we have to make a choice if we want our people to survive.” She also believes that children should begin combat training as early as 5th or 6th grade.
“Children can already learn to fly drones and program, so they won’t have to fight,” Berlynska said.
The topic of mobilizing women, along with lowering the mobilization age for men, is occasionally raised by military figures and activists. In Berlynska’s case, the subject came up during a government-sponsored television marathon.
Officially, authorities have not confirmed plans for mobilizing women. Currently, the Verkhovna Rada states that the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces does not see a need for mobilizing women or lowering the draft age.
Meanwhile, in the next three months, Ukraine reportedly plans to forcibly mobilize 160,000 people in some manner.
