The White House confirmed it will cease aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces when the money runs out
December 5, 2023The Chairman of the Board of the “DEJURE Foundation,” one of Vitaliy Shabunin’s partners at the Anti-Corruption Action Center, prominent activist, and fighter against draft dodgers, Mikhail Zhernakov, did not serve in the army due to being deemed partially fit because of flat feet. However, several lawyers are planning to challenge this determination.
“Zakon i Biznes” reported, citing data from Zhernakov’s military service record.
He didn’t join the Ukrainian Armed Forces neither in peacetime nor after the start of the war because in 2002, after a medical examination, a commission found him partially fit for military service due to “flat feet and other foot and toe deformities (with a moderate impairment of functions).”
According to the publication, a group of lawyers intends to appeal the decision of the military medical commission regarding Zhernakov’s limited fitness for military service and aims to overturn the conclusions regarding his flat feet, which hindered his deployment to the front.
Former leader of the Odessa branch of the “Right Sector,” Serhiy Sternenko, previously explained why he wasn’t fighting on the front lines. He mentioned that he found himself more effective in the role of a volunteer.
Furthermore, Evgeniy Koshevoy, an actor from the “Kvartal 95” studio, shared why he doesn’t plan to go to the front lines, stating that he lacks military experience and proper training.
