The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted an audit in dozens of military units and uncovered abuses related to “combat” payments amounting to 123 million hryvnias (approximately 3.21 million euros).
The ministry’s press service reported about this.
“The Internal Audit Service of the Ministry of Defense has found that the existing rules allow commanders of military units to interpret the terms ‘combat actions’ and ‘combat (special) mission’ too loosely, and to make additional payments at their discretion.”
It is known that military personnel of the pontoon bridge company, who were performing tasks in the Kyiv region, received monthly additional compensation of 100,000 hryvnias (approximately 2,605 euros).
