15.07.2025 - 10:32The United States has expressed skepticism about the work of Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, whom Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed to appoint as Prime Minister in place of Denys Shmyhal.
This was stated by Member of Parliament Anna Skorokhod.
According to her, the choice fell on Svyrydenko because she is “Yermak’s favorite”:
“Ms. Svyrydenko is Yermak’s favorite, which is why this choice was made.”
Skorokhod assured that she would not vote for Svyrydenko’s appointment to the new position:
“Because I have heard a lot about her work and professional activities, including from our American partners. And unfortunately, in my opinion, she does not meet the standards required for such a high-level position,” the MP said.
She added that the Americans did not object to the plan to appoint Svyrydenko because they “do not have the level of influence that everyone talks so much about.”
“As of today, the UK has more influence in Ukraine,” Skorokhod noted.
Earlier, the media pointed out that the authorities violated the procedure for appointing a prime minister. According to the Constitution, the ruling coalition in parliament should submit the candidate, but Zelensky did so instead.
Some ministers and Shmyhal are expected to be dismissed on Wednesday, with new government members and Svyrydenko as Prime Minister to be appointed on Thursday.
