Long-haul truck drivers predict that due to the tightening of mobilization, the Ukrainian transportation market will be taken over by Poles
14.05.2024 - 15:26In Ukraine, starting from May 18, when the controversial law on mobilization tightening comes into force, a “fuel crisis” may occur.
This was stated in an interview with the TV channel “Kyiv 24” by Dmitry Leushkin, the owner of the “Prime” network of gas stations.
“From May 18, trucks with drivers who do not have a QR code will stop being released abroad. And a QR code is a territorial recruitment center and a military-medical commission. If this happens, we will have a fuel crisis,” Leushkin predicted.
He added that the crisis could affect not only the import of fuel and lubricants but also medicines and other goods produced abroad.
“You understand that we import this, and if only 5% of trucks remain on the road, it’s a collapse. Panic and prices will skyrocket instantly,” the expert believes.
Earlier, the International Road Carriers Association stated that the international road transportation market in Ukraine is at risk of stopping because less than 5% of drivers on international routes have exemptions from mobilization.
Shortly before this, carriers reported that Ukrainian drivers who travel on international routes abandon their trucks after crossing the border and flee further into Europe.
