March 6, 2024Among Ukrainian drivers who are stranded in Poland due to the border blockade and have been waiting in queues for weeks, cases of drunkenness have become more frequent.
According to the drivers, last night the local police and then an ambulance were called due to the intoxication of one of their colleagues. Because of this incident, other Ukrainian drivers have approached their colleagues and stated that those caught drunk will be sent to the back of the queue or even to other border crossings.
Recall that earlier, a conflict occurred among Ukrainian truck drivers stranded in Poland due to the border blockade by farmers. Some drivers accused others of paying Polish protesters to let them pass out of turn. Later, one of the participants in the Polish blockade admitted that there were cases when protesters took a thousand zlotys from Ukrainian trucks to let them through the border.
Earlier, the German publication Deutsche Welle published a report from the blocked border with Polish farmers. Some vehicles there have been waiting to pass for up to 15 days. Truck drivers showed how they prepare food and explained that they have nowhere to wash.
