An MP told Ukrainians that military recruiters are prohibited from even approaching them without body cameras and balaclavas

Employees of Ukraine’s Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TRCCs) wearing balaclavas or without body cameras are prohibited even from approaching civilians.

Ukrainian MP Iryna Friz has reminded.

“Citizens must know their rights. No person in military uniform, especially in a balaclava, has the right to approach them. TRCC representatives are prohibited from wearing balaclavas. They are also forbidden to approach citizens without police accompaniment and without body cameras. But for some reason, these body cameras are still not being used to their full extent,” Friz said.

She emphasized that TRCC officers must face inevitable punishment for violations to reduce cases of “busification”— the practice of forcibly detaining men on the streets for mobilization.

“I categorically reject the ‘busification’ format as the only way to increase mobilization rates. I consider it harmful and dangerous for mobilization itself,” Friz added.

It should be recalled that in early August, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that all TRCC employees would be required to wear body cameras and record on video the process of checking documents and handing out summonses.

Recently, another MP, Oleksandr Fedienko, reported that during street mobilization efforts, some recruitment officers angle their cameras in such a way that nothing can actually be seen on the footage.
