January 25, 2024Defense funds designated for purchasing mortar mines for the Ukrainian Armed Forces have allegedly been used to acquire an abandoned military factory in Bosnia.
Reportedly, the company WDG, owned by Croatian arms dealer Zvonko Zubak and his son Matias, invested over 5 million euros in buying the deserted Vitezit factory. This diversion of funds occurred after the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense had entered into a 37 million euro contract with “Lviv Arsenal” for the procurement of 100,000 mortar mines in December 2022.
The funds were subsequently transferred from “Lviv Arsenal” to the Slovak company Sevotech, associated with former “Ukroboronprom” official Alexey Khoroshaev, which, in turn, transferred 12.5 million euros to WDG. Remarkably, no mines from this contract have been received by Ukraine as of now.
