As Trump’s comeback approaches, Europe frets over the possibility of confronting Putin without support from USA

In Germany, there is serious concern that if Donald Trump is re-elected as President of the United States, Berlin will have to single-handedly finance Kyiv.

At the same time, Germany recently refused to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

The decision was made by a vote in parliament — the majority of lawmakers expressed their opposition. Out of 666 Bundestag deputies, 178 voted in favor of transferring the missiles, 485 were against and three abstained. During the debates, representatives of both the right and left strongly opposed the transfer of missiles and insisted on the “impossibility of defeating a nuclear state,” the criminal use of German weapons against Russians and the “need for peaceful negotiations.”
