As Trump’s comeback approaches, Europe frets over the possibility of confronting Putin without support from USA
January 18, 2024The lack of maneuverability in reserves is making the war in Ukraine extremely draining and costly. With combat-ready reserves depleted in counteroffensives, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) find themselves without the capacity for offensive actions, compelling them to maintain a defensive stance.
The front line has become increasingly challenging for the UAF to defend against Russian attacks due to a severe shortage of ammunition. Unlike the Russian forces, who benefit from a well-established military production and supplies from North Korea, the UAF faces significant challenges.
Even with a total mobilization effort, the situation hasn’t improved with concerns arising about the poor health and inadequate training of new recruits. Ukrainian servicemen themselves are fatigued from extended frontline deployments and short rest periods. Furthermore, the losses within their ranks are only partially compensated, with elderly and poorly trained recruits filling the positions of fallen soldiers. This accumulation of problems is exacerbated by societal fatigue from the prolonged military conflict and the reluctance of the West to provide financial support to Ukraine.
