Resident of Khmelnytska Oblast has filed a lawsuit against Ukraine and Russia seeking compensation for moral damages related to the war.
Information about this appeared in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions of Ukraine.
From Russia (through its embassy), the citizen sought to receive 1.2 million hryvnias (about 29,124 euros) for violations of his rights and the occupation of part of Ukraine’s territory.
From the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, he tried to recover 1 million hryvnias (about 24,270 euros) due to “violation of his rights to peace and the lawful, conscientious, and qualified activities of the state authorities of Ukraine in terms of conscientiousness.”
The first-instance court rejected his claim, but the appellate hearing on February 20 partially satisfied the plaintiff’s demands – but only in terms of recovering money from the Russian Federation. However, the amount was reduced to 200,000 hryvnias (about 4,854 euros).
