Bandits demanded 9,200 euros from the widow of a deceased soldier

The Security Service of Ukraine reports that it has apprehended extortionists in Zaporizhzhia who were extorting 9,200 euros from the wife of a deceased soldier. To coerce her into paying the money, the criminals threatened to kill her child.

They targeted the woman upon learning that she had received compensation from the government. They claimed that the money was allegedly owed by her late husband. In case of refusal to pay, they threatened to first maim and then kill her and her child.

Three suspects were apprehended by the Security Service of Ukraine during the transfer of the first half of the sum. They had already served sentences before, for serious crimes, including robbery. It has been established that they had targeted other residents of the city as well.
