On Wednesday, March 6, Ukrainian border guards detained five men who were attempting to swim across the Dniester River to reach Moldova.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“Three residents of the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions were detained by the border patrol on a service boat at the start of the swim. Another two ‘swimmers’ were found on the riverbank – they were wearing wetsuits and preparing to swim across the Dniester to reach Moldova,” the statement said.
Protocols for administrative offenses were drawn up against the men and the cases were sent to court.
Yesterday, border guards found the body of a young resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region in the Tisza River. It is noted that this is already the 21st case of a person’s death while attempting to swim across the river, which forms the border with Romania.
