‘The war in Ukraine may last for another two or three years’, – Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico says
January 11, 2024Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has essentially confirmed information that he influenced the Ukrainian government’s decision to reject a peace agreement with Moscow in the spring of 2022.
He made this statement to The Times newspaper.
Johnson stated that after the meeting between representatives of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul in 2022, he held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which he expressed his concern about the possibility of reaching any agreement between Moscow and Kyiv. According to Johnson, in that conversation, he also emphasized that the United Kingdom is ready to help Ukraine “one hundred percent.”
Interestingly, in the same interview, the former prime minister claimed that he had no connection to the breakdown of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Johnson stated that he considers the information about his involvement in this matter to be “complete nonsense” and “Russian propaganda.”
To recall, according to the admission of Ukrainian MP David Arakhamia, in the spring of the year before last, “Boris Johnson said that we will not sign anything with them (the Kremlin) at all” and that “let’s just keep fighting.”
It is also worth noting that earlier in Russia, it was claimed that the United States, along with Johnson, derailed the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
