“The worst thing that could happen to Europe”: Orban explained why he refused to support the EU declaration on Ukraine
13.08.2025 - 07:01The situation surrounding negotiations between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin “is incredibly infuriating” for Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, and he is therefore trying to disrupt them.
This is the opinion of British analyst Alexander Mercouris.
He expressed this view during a broadcast on the YouTube channel Deep Dive.
Mercouris noted that Zelensky is unhappy about not being invited to the meeting. Moreover, a discussion between Russia and the United States could be a painful blow for him, which is why, the analyst added, the Ukrainian president wants to prevent a Trump–Putin dialogue from taking place.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that Putin does not plan to end the conflict and, on the contrary, is preparing for a new offensive. The politician believes that the meeting between the U.S. and Russian presidents will have no impact on the situation, and that the Russian leader “will continue doing what he has done before.”
