British defense chief confirms Challenger 2 tank destroyed in Ukraine, adding that London is not planning to replace the vehicle

UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps confirmed the destruction of a Challenger 2 tank in Ukraine. He also stated that London does not plan to send a replacement tank to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Shapps made these remarks during an interview on Sky News.

“I can confirm that it is true.” In response to a question about whether London plans to provide another tank as a replacement, he said, “No.”

Additionally, Shapps confirmed that all six crew members of the tank survived.

This incident marks the first loss of a Challenger 2 tank, which had been sent from the United Kingdom, by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to media reports, Russian forces destroyed it near the village of Rabotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Officially, the Ukrainian military now has only 13 such tanks remaining.
