28.10.2026 18:01Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov denies information from the French newspaper Le Monde about a heated conversation with US presidential special envoy Steven Witkoff during talks in Miami in early October.
Budanov commented on the article to RBC-Ukraine.
“Regarding the alleged insider details of the communication: the information is not true, nothing of the sort happened. We are currently seeing information attacks on the negotiation process. It is important to keep a cool head and remember our key goal — a sustainable peace for Ukraine. We are doing everything for this,” the head of the Presidential Office said.
According to Budanov, the media are carrying out information attacks on the negotiations.
The French newspaper Le Monde wrote that Trump’s representative lectured Budanov on how to make money as if he were a child, telling him about the prospects for ending the war and normalizing relations with Russia, while Budanov “tried with all his might to suppress his anger.”
The same Le Monde article mentioned the important role of Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, in restoring economic relations between the US and Russia.
