December 4, 2023The President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, has vetoed an agreement that had previously been approved regarding the donation of 100 used armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, as per local media reports.
The document has been sent back to parliament for further deliberation. Radev has emphasized that the members of parliament were insufficiently briefed about the specific details of the transaction. Consequently, they couldn’t make an objective assessment of whether Bulgaria truly no longer requires these armored vehicles. For instance, these assets might still be vital for handling natural disasters and safeguarding the country’s borders.
The president stated, “I firmly believe that the security, well-being and lives of Bulgarian citizens must take precedence.”
