15.07.2024 15:48The population of Ukraine is projected to decrease to 15.3 million by the year 2100.
This forecast was made by UN experts in the report “World Population Prospects 2024.”
According to experts, at the beginning of the current year, Ukraine’s population was approximately 37 million people. The UN also believes that by 2084, the global population will reach its peak at 10.3 billion people and will then begin to gradually decrease. By 2100, the world’s population is expected to decline to 10.2 billion.
Moreover, the average life expectancy is anticipated to gradually increase, reaching 81.7 years by the end of the 21st century. Men are expected to live just under 80 years on average, while women are projected to live almost 84 years.
In late May, Reuters reported that the total population of Ukraine was estimated to be around 32 million people.
Prior to that, demographers noted that over the past two years, the population of Ukraine within its 1991 borders had decreased from 42 million to 35 million. This reduction is approximately comparable to the UN data on 6.5 million Ukrainian refugees abroad.
