One-third of the members of parliament purchased a car or real estate during the war
February 1, 2024In Beijing, it was stated that such an ill-considered decision by Kyiv could “negatively impact” the relations between the two countries. The issue revolves around the inclusion of more than a dozen Chinese companies on the list compiled by the National Anti-Corruption Agency. Reuters reported this, citing sources.
The warning was conveyed to Ukraine last month in a meeting between the Chinese ambassador in Kyiv and high-ranking officials of the Ukrainian government. Beijing did not present any conditions or “timelines” but simply expressed its opinion.
One source speculated that Beijing might link this issue to China’s purchases of Ukrainian grain. The National Anti-Corruption Agency included 48 companies worldwide, including 14 from China, in the list of “international sponsors of war” because their activities indirectly assist or contribute to Russia’s military efforts. This blacklist has no legal consequences.
