September 13, 2023The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has called on the advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, to clarify his remarks regarding the “weak intellectual potential” of India and China.
This statement was made by Mao Nin, a representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I do not know the true intentions behind the statements made by this individual but he should provide clarifications. China has consistently maintained a responsible stance on the Ukrainian crisis, calling for a ceasefire and negotiations and advocating for a political resolution,” said Mao Nin.
Mikhail Podolyak himself claims that his words were misunderstood. He says that Russia “took his words out of context and distorted their meaning.”
“Of course, Turkey, India, China and other regional powers increasingly justify their claims to global roles in the modern world. There are valid reasons for this: historical, economic, cultural, scientific and political. These roles have long been much broader than Russia’s. However, the global world is much broader than even the most carefully considered regional national interests,” wrote Podolyak.
The day before, the advisor to the Head of the Office of the Ukrainian President, Mikhail Podolyak, stated in an interview that the intellectual potential of India and China is weak, despite these countries making significant investments in science.
According to him, the fact that the Indian station “Chandrayaan-3” successfully reached the moon does not mean that this country “truly understands what the modern world is.”
“The problem with these countries is that they do not analyze the consequences of their own actions. Unfortunately, these countries have weak intellectual potential. These countries are profiting from this war effectively, just like the Republic of Turkey,” Podolyak said.
In late April, Podolyak called on China to distance itself from Russia in order to maintain influence in the global economy. “China has been unable to determine its position for a year and now it faces a choice,” he noted at the time.
According to him, Chinese authorities should not economically support Russia, including participating in its military-industrial complex and should not act as a “Russian information and diplomatic agent.”
