04.06.2024 - 18:38More than two dozen countries have expressed support for the Chinese plan to end the war in Ukraine.
This was announced by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, as reported by international media.
Wang Yi stated that both Russia and Ukraine separately “confirmed most of the content” of the principles for a political solution outlined by China and Brazil in a joint statement last month.
The document presented by China and Brazil calls for convening an international conference recognized by both Russia and Ukraine as an alternative to Kyiv’s “peace formula,” which is supported by Western countries and is set to be discussed at a conference in Switzerland this month.
Wang Yi reported that 26 countries have agreed to join (or are seeking ways to join) the “common understanding” reached by China and Brazil. According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a total of 45 countries have positively evaluated these ideas.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also “welcomed and highly appreciated” Beijing’s plans after their meeting on Tuesday, Wang Yi said.
It is worth noting that the Chinese peace plan proposes a ceasefire along the front lines without the withdrawal of Russian troops to the 1991 borders.
Meanwhile, Zelensky’s office today stated that Kyiv still does not accept any options for ending the war “except for the mandatory military defeat of the aggressor.”
