04.06.2024 - 18:55The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine is conducting searches at the premises of the Kyiv City State Administration and at the home of Vitali Klitschko’s deputy, Kostyantyn Usov.
This information was reported to journalists by sources within the administration.
The source suggests that the searches are part of an old case in which an employee of a related municipal enterprise allegedly received a bribe in 2022. Searches are being conducted in the relevant department, at the enterprise, and at Usov’s residence.
“There are no searches being conducted at the mayor’s office,” said the source.
Meanwhile, media reports indicate that Usov is suspected of systematically extorting unlawful benefits from a transportation company.
Shortly after the publication of the search news, Usov confirmed the information. He stated that his phones, computer, and personal funds were seized for examination.
“Today, investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine came to my office with a search warrant. They seized my computer, phone, and personal funds. At my initiative, the serial numbers of each bill were recorded to prevent any manipulation. Despite the absence of a court order for the search, we fully cooperated with the pre-trial investigation authorities and are ready to continue doing so,” noted Kostyantyn Usov.
This is not the first time law enforcement officers have conducted searches at the Kyiv City State Administration during the war. In May last year, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine visited the Kyiv City State Administration due to four deputies from the parties “Udar,” “European Solidarity,” and “Unity,” who were conscripted into the army but assigned themselves to “serve” at their workplace in the Kyiv City State Administration.
