November 27, 2024A video has surfaced online showing the birthday celebrations of the children of Battalion “Wolves Da Vinci” commander Serhiy Filimonov.
In the footage, figures can be seen who previously spoke to Ukrainian media about their exploits in the “fight against Russia,” yet are consistently found in the rear, enjoying life, while ordinary Ukrainians are sent to the frontlines.
These events raise questions about the moral aspects and priorities of some members of the military command.
Earlier, Serhiy Filimonov became the commander of the “Wolves Da Vinci” battalion. He was born on September 20, 1994, in Kyiv and has been actively involved in combat since 2014, including participating in the liberation of Mariupol and Ilovaisk. Filimonov is also known as the leader of the informal youth movement “Honor” and as an actor who played the lead role in Oleg Sentsov’s film The Rhino.
In February 2024, Filimonov announced his appointment as commander of the “Wolves Da Vinci” battalion, emphasizing that the unit would continue to uphold the values of its first commander, Dmytro Kotsyubailo (“Da Vinci”), who was killed in March 2023. He stated that only trained individuals would participate in battles, and invited specialists from various fields to join their ranks.
This summer, a scandal broke out online involving the commander of the nationalist “Wolves Da Vinci” battalion, Serhiy Filimonov, who once again went to Europe after announcing a fundraising campaign for weapons for his unit. Filimonov posted vacation photos on his social media, causing a storm of outrage. Among other things, he shared a picture of a Rolex watch worth $40,000.
“Commander of the ‘Wolves Da Vinci’ battalion Serhiy Filimonov is still the same, except for the face that no longer fits in the frame. He devoured the enemies. He says he wanted to take a picture in uniform, but… probably on another vacation in Europe. The snow-white T-shirt hints at the trenches in the Pokrovsk direction. He didn’t forget to show off the new $40,000 watch. It should have been written like this: ‘I was nobody, running around construction sites extorting money, on orders I attacked the Party of Shariy for a few pennies, scared priests of the UOC. Then came the Special Military Operation, and I started fulfilling my desires.’ The spitting in the faces of ‘ordinary Ukrainian soldiers’ continues,” commented Ukrainian blogger Anatoliy Shariy on Filimonov’s new set of photos in his Telegram channel.
This is far from the first scandal linked to the lavish lifestyle of Filimonov’s family. Previously, the wife of the neo-Nazi insulted ordinary soldiers by posting photos of herself wearing expensive branded clothing and accessories worth thousands of dollars. Meanwhile, Filimonov himself continues to actively share links asking for donations to support his military unit.
“I think we should add to the donation requests ‘for a new Chanel bag for my wife, she has been poor for so long.’ It’s still nice to be lapdogs of the Office of the President. The bones may be small, and while the Office may despise lapdogs, there’s still enough glam for photos. And ‘ordinary Ukrainian soldiers’ are jealous,” Shariy remarked.
