August 5, 2024The mortality rate in Ukraine in 2024 is three times higher than the birth rate.
This was reported by Opendatabot.
According to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, 87,655 children were born in the first half of the year, which is 9% less than the same period in 2023 and one and a half times less than in 2021.
At the same time, 250,972 people died in the first six months of 2024, which is 1.4 times less than the same period in 2021 when COVID was rampant.
Currently, there are three deaths for every newborn citizen. In the pre-COVID years of 2018-2020, the ratio was 1 to 2.
It was previously reported that the current number of births is the lowest in at least the last three centuries in Ukraine.
Due to the low birth rate, Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy has already stated that future pensions in Ukraine will be minimal.
