Talks between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia in Abu Dhabi have ended and will continue next week
24.01.2026 - 16:01Because of the electricity shortage in Kyiv, outdoor lighting in parks and public squares will be gradually limited and switched off. This is being done to use energy resources more rationally.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) on its Telegram channel.
According to the agency, in the evening—before the curfew begins and after it ends—LED streetlights operate in an energy-saving mode at up to 20% power, while other types of lights are turned on only partially—about 30% of the total number.
In addition, during the curfew, outdoor lighting in the city is switched off completely.
The KCSA Department of Transport Infrastructure explained that most lighting fixtures in parks and squares are outdated and cannot adjust brightness.
Under conditions of limited electricity supply, operating them is considered impractical, so lighting in such locations will be turned off entirely.
“The shutdown is being carried out step by step and mostly manually. Specialists from Kyivhorsvit municipal enterprise are working in a way that preserves lighting on streets and major highways,” the KCSA said.
