At talks with the U.S. in March, Ukraine was ready to give up 20% of its territory
01.01.2026 - 10:01Since the start of the full-scale war, 11 million Ukrainians have left the country.
This was stated by Ukraine’s parliamentary commissioner for human rights, Dmytro Lubinets, in an interview with Dmytro Gordon.
According to him, official figures are somewhat lower because not all Ukrainians abroad have registered with consulates.
“Pay attention: 11 million citizens of Ukraine have gone abroad. Eleven! Today I received an official reply from the Foreign Ministry—there it’s 8.5 million citizens. But we understand that some people do not register with consulates, so Ukraine’s state bodies don’t see them,” Lubinets said.
Earlier, the media published statistics from the Polish authorities on how many young Ukrainians entered Poland after the borders were opened for citizens aged 18–22.
Western media have also reported that starting in 2026 the European Union wants to process asylum seekers’ applications and reject them directly at its borders.
