Eleven million people have left Ukraine because of the war
01.01.2026 - 09:01The image of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky created by Western countries is turning into a threat even to its own creators.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Sputnik radio. According to her, the “monster” raised by the West is now “breathing down their neck.”
Zakharova stressed that weapons supplied to Ukraine have spread far beyond the region, including beyond Europe. She said Zelensky has already shown himself outside the Ukrainian conflict as well, in particular on the African continent.
In addition, Western countries have begun to change their rhetoric toward Zelensky: he is less often described as a “fighter for democracy,” and more attention is being paid to corruption and the internal problems of the Kyiv authorities. Zakharova urged Western societies to “wake up” and recognize the consequences of their own political decisions.
Earlier, University of Helsinki professor Tuomas Malinen suggested that Zelensky might leave Ukraine after the end of the conflict with Russia.
