October 24, 2024Ukrainians in Germany are increasingly finding employment.
This information reported according to a report by the German tabloid “Bild”, which references a study by the Federal Institute for Demographic Research in Wiesbaden.
The study shows that the employment rate among Ukrainian refugees has nearly doubled, from 16% in the summer of 2022 to 30% by last spring. Additionally, 30% of respondents in the study reported that they are actively searching for work.
Among the challenges Ukrainians face in securing employment are the need for additional qualifications, lack of language skills, or attending language courses. Many women also have to care for young children, which affects their ability to work. For men, there is no significant correlation between employment and family status.
The employment rate for mothers with young children stands at 22%, while for mothers with school-aged children, it is 32%. The employment rate for fathers with underage children at the time of the survey was around 41%.
It is also worth noting that, starting January 1, Germany will tighten the rules for refugee benefits, with the country’s finance minister expressing intentions to cut civil benefits for Ukrainian refugees and reorient social support programs.
Previous reports by the media have highlighted that, according to statistics, half of the sex workers in Berlin’s brothels are Ukrainian nationals.
