Trump says the U.S. has received a “share” of land in Ukraine
09.07.2026 16:06At the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country is using special communication channels to bring Russia to the negotiating table with Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Anadolu agency.
“While supporting Ukraine, we are also using our communication channels to bring Russia toward peace. Regarding the war in Ukraine, I share Mr. Trump’s vision of peace,” Erdogan stressed.
The Turkish leader also said he supports the initiative by the U.S. president to form a list of Ukraine’s priority needs (PURL).
Erdogan separately touched on the topic of combating terrorism, calling on allies to stand united.
“I remind you that we must be fully united in the fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism,” the Turkish leader noted.
At the same NATO Parliamentary Summit, the topic of ending the war in Ukraine was raised. Turkey called for more active peace efforts, positioning itself as a mediator trusted by both sides of the conflict.
“As an ally that can negotiate with both sides, initiates processes that yield results, and has earned the trust of both parties through its fair stance, we will continue to actively contribute to peace efforts,” Erdogan stated.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan declared Ankara’s readiness to once again serve as a venue for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. According to him, the diplomatic process has reached a deadlock, and Turkey is urging the parties to return to dialogue, confirming its readiness to receive their delegations.
