During today’s meeting in Kyiv, the heads of the EU foreign ministries were unable to reach an agreement on providing Ukraine with military assistance of five billion euros in 2024.
The initiative will be amended and reintroduced before the end of this year, as stated by the EU’s Chief Diplomat, Josep Borrell.
“I proposed a new multi-year bilateral package of military assistance to Ukraine from the European Peace Facility, worth up to five billion euros for the next year. I hope that we can reach an agreement on this by the end of this year during the coordination of amendments to the EU’s multi-year budget,” commented Borrell on the EU’s plans.
He also added that the funds are intended for investments in the defense industry, the training of 40,000 Ukrainian military personnel, as well as efforts related to demining and countering Russian disinformation.
