December 28, 2023The promised one million units of ammunition that the European Union pledged to Ukraine by March is likely to be delivered by June, according to Lithuanian Member of the European Parliament Petras Auštrevičius in an interview with Delfi.
He mentioned that currently, less than half of the promised ammunition had been delivered to Ukraine by March. “It was said that there would be a million by March-April. As of today, more than 400,000 have been sent or are on the way to Ukraine. There is a little over half left,” the politician stated.
“I hope that by June, we will have a million. Perhaps there will be a delay of three to four months, but the main thing is for this support to continue even after June,” Auštrevičius noted. He emphasized the need for the West to increase ammunition production. The politician added that this million is not the last thing Ukraine needs. Europe needs to comprehend the scale, thus both Western and European defense industries must develop, including in Lithuania.
