02.02.2024 - 11:0122% of Polish citizens have a negative attitude towards Ukrainians. The age group primarily holding negative views towards Ukrainian citizens falls between 25 and 34 years old. On the other hand, the majority of older individuals, aged 55 and above, expressed positive attitudes. Gazeta PL reports this based on a study conducted by Personnel Service.
Krzysztof Inglot, a labor market expert and founder of Personnel Service, explained that the increasing negative sentiment towards Ukrainians could be influenced by the rising cost of living. Additionally, concerns about the personal financial situation of Poles may contribute, as there is a growing fear that Ukrainian workers might take away their jobs.
“We consider them more competitive in the labor market and are concerned about their impact on the pace of wage growth. However, it should be emphasized that when jobs are taken away, it affects a minority of our society. We are aware that Ukrainians fill gaps where it is difficult to find workers,” stated the expert. It’s worth noting that a similar study previously indicated a twofold increase in resentment among Ukrainians towards Poles. The deterioration in relations was attributed to the Polish blockade of the Ukrainian border, resulting in losses for Kyiv exceeding one billion euros.
